Immigrant Status

According to the 2021 Census, 207,950 people, that is, 25.4% of the population, were foreign-born (immigrants), 581,545 (70.9%) were Canadian-born (non-immigrants) and 30,220 (3.7%) were non-permanent residents.

Among immigrants in 2021, 46,495 came between 2016 and 2021. These recent immigrants made up 22.4% of the immigrant population.

Place of birth

The top three places of birth among immigrants living in Winnipeg (CMA) in 2021 were the Philippines, India, and China. Among recent immigrants living in Winnipeg (CMA), they were India, the Philippines, and Nigeria.
