Thematic maps – Poverty

The Market Basket Measure (MBM) was adopted as Canada's Official Poverty Line in June 2019. This series of thematic maps provides a visual representation of poverty in 2015 using the 2018-base MBM. According to the MBM, a family lives in poverty if it does not have enough income to purchase a specific basket of goods and services in its community. More information on the new 2018-base MBM are available in the Report on the second comprehensive review of the Market Basket Measure.
