In 2011, Colwood (City) had a population of 16,093, representing a percentage change of 9.6% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 17.66 square kilometres with a population density of 911.2 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 922,509.29 square kilometres with a population density of 4.8 persons per square kilometre.
