In 2011, Lachute (Ville) had a population of 12,551, representing a percentage change of 6.1% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 109.20 square kilometres with a population density of 114.9 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.

In 2011, the number of census families² in Lachute was 3,535, which represents a change of 5.5% from 2006. This compares to a growth rate for Canada of 5.5% over the same period.
