Description

This chart shows the population of Canada as enumerated in the censuses from 1851 to 2011. Canada's population grew steadily, from 2,400,000 people in 1851 to 3,200,000 in 1861, to 3,700,000 in 1871, to 4,300,000 in 1881, to 4,800,000 in 1891, to 5,400,000 in 1901, to 7,200,000 in 1911, to 8,800,000 in 1921, to 10,400,000 in 1931, to 11,500,000 in 1941, to 14,000,000 in 1951, to 18,200,000 in 1961, to 21,600,000 in 1971, to 24,300,000 in 1981, to 27,300,000 in 1991, to 30,000,000 in 2001, and finally to 33,500,000 in 2011.
